The journey began in 1968 in Cape Town, South Africa, when an opportunity to sell human hair wiglets sparked a new passion. With the support of his wife, Stella, the business quickly grew, empowering women and changing lives. By 1970, wigs were in high demand, and a vast network of sellers helped expand the business across multiple cities.

For four decades, Jon Renau has been a leader in the alternative hair industry, but our story begins long before that. Our founder, John Reynolds, often gets asked how he transitioned from a career in pharmacy to the wig business. The answer is simple: both professions share a common goal caring for people. Whether it was through medicine or wigs, he was always dedicated to helping others feel their best.
